5 Must-Do Things for a Perfect Summer Day in Berlin Mitte
/Berlin is probably the most diverse capital out there. Every area has its very own flair and character. Getting to truly know the city would take multiple visits. On some days, though, we all feel like “staying in the hood” and living a day like a true local. We’ve put together five tips to spend a perfect day in Berlin Mitte, all located along the historical Chausseestraße.
☕ 1. Start Your Morning with Specialty Coffee at 19grams Chaussee
You’ve probably heard Berlin has a “thing” for coffee. Step into the charming coffee spot with its brick walls and dim lighting for a cup of aromatic locally roasted flat white, or a smooth filter coffee with a flaky croissant or slice of orange bread. 19gramms is a chain with multiple spots around the city, but the Chaussee36 is our favorite. The team is always friendly and speaks perfect English. You can also bring your laptop to work a little before stepping out to continue exploring the area.
🐇 2. Find the Golden Rabbits – Stolpersteine on Chausseestraße
Venture on a fun hunt - go up the street towards Wedding, and be sure to keep attentive and look down. Here, among the cobbles and in some places within the asphalt, you will spot a collection of golden bunnies. Life-sized brass figures are an artwork called Kaninchenfeld (Rabbit Field), created by artist Karla Sachse. It takes us back to the times of the Berlin Wall ran past the same streets. Then, rabbits were the only lucky city residents who could enjoy full freedom of movement, digging tunnels under the crossing, and hopping from side to side.
🥗 3. Have Lunch at Factory Girl at Amano Hotel
With lunchtime approaching, head back towards the city centre. Here, the iconic Factory Girl brunch spot just reopened in a new location at the Amano Hotel. This staple always collects long queues at the entrance, serving tasty filling brunch deals. All with cheeky names like “A one-night stand” and “Sexy kidnapped potatoes,” these Mediterranean-inspired dishes will leave you full and ready to continue exploring the neighborhood.
🖼️ 4. See “Metamorphosis” at Chaussee 36 Photo Gallery
